The real estate economy is an industry, which concerns itself with the development, production, management and marketing of real estates. The property market is a market (in the micro-economic sense) with special characteristics; an important partial market is the housing market.

Branches of the real estate economy

Regarding the kind of the real estates the real estate economy can be divided into the following branches:

• Property market: Development and marketing of properties
• Housing industry: Building, financing, management and marketing of living real estates, the moreover one are differentiated between social housing construction and freely financed housebuilding
• Commercial real estate economy: Building, financing, management and marketing of trade real estates

Tasks and participants in the real estate economy

If one regards the tasks and/or functions approximately around real estates, then different participants let themselves be differentiated:

The tasks plus the control functions when planning/permission and production/building in real estate projects, due to it, are kernel functions of real estate enterprises. In contrast to it other tasks, execution of construction or outline, are e.g. accomplished by specialized Dienstleistern, which one does not rank among the real estate enterprises.

The core range that management and financing of real estates is called often also in summary housing and real estate economy, those on living real estates incl. properties aligned management, financing and marketing as property and housing industry.
