Refuge Bibergeil (* 3 February 1925 in grab forest) is a professor for internal medicine and Diabetologe. It was from 1967 to 1990 director of the Central Institute for diabetes "„Gerhardt Katsch "“in Karl castle with grab forest.

It visited the primary school and the material High School in and attained 1943 the Abitur. Starting from 1946 it studied medicine at the University of grab forest. 1951 he put his state examination down and and attained a doctorate in the same year. Subsequently, he worked three years long on district hospitals in the min and Malchin and began its training as the specialist for internal medicine.

it changed 1955 to Institut for diabetes research and treatment, existing in Karl castle. Three years later it went to the continuation of its specialist training to the medical hospital of the University of Rostock, where it developed the department for Endokrinologie and metabolic diseases in the following years. It habilitierte itself 1965 likewise in Rostock. 1967 it was appointed later after death by Gerhard Mohnike director of the institute for diabetes "“Gerhardt Katsch"” in Karl castle and short time as the professor at the University of grab forest.

Under its line it came to a reinforcement of the interdisciplinary co-operation as well as co-operation of the institute with foreign mechanisms. 1972 became Institut under the designation Zentralinstitut for diabetes "„Gerhardt Katsch "“the guidance mechanism for the treatment of Diabetikern and the research diabetes mellitus in the entire GDR. Bibergeil published nearly 300 scientific publications during its career. Its Hauptwerk is the book diabetes written in co-operation with in and foreign experts mellitus. A reference book for diabetologische practice, from which expenditures for license appeared also outside of the GDR. He remained a director of the institute up to its retirement in the year 1990. In the same year the dissolution of the institute in its existing form and the transfer began into a set of follow-on equipments in the course of the structural changes in the science landscape, connected with the reunification of Germany.

Bibergeil was a president and/or chairman of several scientific combinations, among other things the society for clinical medicine of the GDR and the society for Endokrinologie and metabolic diseases of the GDR. Of several in and foreign societies he was appointed the honour member. Among it lent scientific and national honors rank among other things the Maxim Zetkin price of the German society for of the GDR, the Fritz Gietzelt medal and the title "„earned physician of the people "“.
