The regiment commander designates in Germany the utility position of the highest disciplinarily superior after "§1 superior regulation (VorgV) of a regiment in the rank lieutenant colonel or Colonel.

In the context of its tasks it will represent regularly by the deputy regiment commander, whomever holds mostly the function of commander of barracks.

To its tasks belong regularly:

• Regulation of the agency of the Disziplinarvorgesetzten of one it subordinate unit.
• Units subordinated it monitoring of the military training.
• Awake superior of the military or civilian guard of one or several barracks.
