"“Regions asset - country arranges future"” is a model program started of the Federal Ministry for consumer protection, nutrition and agriculture (BMVEL) 2001. In two selection rounds 18 model regions were finally selected, which receive for the years 2002 to 2005 corresponding promotion funds. The program is to be resumed after running out the first promotion period at the end of of 2005 for two years to fulfill and own contributions have to furnish, whereby however yet is not certain, which of the 18 model regions is further promoted, among other things there this certain Kirtierien. A goal of the changed promotion is it that the regional managements developed in the 18 regions carry later and/or are financed by other backers and Spronsoren (e.g. municipalities and districts, enterprises and individuals).

Also the individual model regions are more near presented and have these the possibility of stopping the projects promoted by them into a project data base. Up to the end of the first promotion period to the year end 2005 741 projects local and regional projects were accomplished in the context of this model program.
