The residence permit is a residence title after the new residence law, "§ 7 and 8. It is in principle limited (on at least 6 months) and tied (the individual purposes of the stay are specified in "§ 16 to 36). It is not connected always with a work permit; whether a work permit exists, depends on the purpose of the residence permit.
