Ride master is a historical rank designation for officers of the Kavallerie in Germany and Austria. The rank corresponds to that of the captain. In Germany the designation was abolished after 1945, in Austria happened this at police and Gendarmerie only in the year 1978.

The designation today still exists in the Kavallerie Norway (way of writing more rittmester). In Denmark the designation (more ritmester) was abolished 1951.
