Robert Royston Amos "„Robin "“Coombs (* 9 January 1921 in London; "† 25 February 2006 in Cambridge) was a British physician and Immunologe. It was Mitentdecker of the Coombs test, which the presence of antigens (Antiglobulinen) with the RH-incompatibility prove.

Coombs studied in Edinburgh and in South Africa. That kept in veterinary medicine at the university Edinburgh later. It received besides the universities of Guelph, the Netherlands and of Edinburgh, Schottland and member of the Royal Society (1965) is, member of the Royal college OF Pathologists and honour member of the Royal college OF Physicians.

He became a professor and researcher at the pathological department of the University of Cambridge and is founder of the there department for Immunologie.

Together with Philip George Howthern Gell it developed 1963 a classification of the immunological reactions, which partitions 4 types of the allergischen reaction.

Together with W.E. Parish and A.F. Wells regards he the allergische reaction to proteins of the cow's milk as a cause of sudden baby death (SIDS).
