Sir Ronald Aylmer Fisher (* 17 February 1890 in London, England; "† 29 July 1962 in Adelaide, Australia) was one the most important Genetiker, evolution theoretician and statistician 20. Century. The British biologist Richard Dawkins calls it "„The greatest OF Darwin' s successors "“, and historians of the statistics. Differently Hald writes "„to Fisher which A genius who almost single handedly created the foundations for modern statistical science. "“

Contributions to the statistics

R.A. Fisher introduced the maximum Likelihood principle and the statistic procedure of the analysis of variance (ANOVA, analysis OF variance), it supplied important contributions for statistic experimental design and postulated the estimate-theoretical concepts of the Suffizienz, Ancillary statistics and Fisher information this made it one of the most important statisticians 20. Jahrhundertes.

Its article "“on A distribution yielding the error functions OF several wave known statistics"” presents Karl Pearson's - distribution and Student's t-distribution within the same probabilistic framework as Normalverteilungund the f (Fisher), designated after it, distribution. Fisher's book Statistical methods for research workers describes like these distributions to be used can.

With The use OF multiple measurements in taxonomic problem (1936) it introduced the Diskriminanzanalyse.

Kurzbiographie

Ronald Fisher was born in London and made in the year 1912 to Cambridge University a B.A. - Conclusion in mathematics its work across the errors in astronomical computations as well as its interest in the genetics led to its work in the statistics.

Starting from 1919 he worked on the Rothamsted experimental station. In the year 1933 he became a professor for Eugenik at the University college London, and from there he went 1943 at the Balfour chair for genetics into Cambridge.

It received numerous honors for its work and to 1952 by queen Elizabeth II. to the knight was struck. Already in the retirement he spent some time in Adelaide, Australia, where he deceased to 1962.
