Running plays one calls a category with computer games. In order sufficient running play to be called, the play must exhibit at least the criterion of the position fight and/or contest at the best time (ideal-proves) on a round course.

One differentiates here roughly between three Untergenres of the running play:

  • Fun Racer such as Racing Destruction set, Need for speed, Hotbiker or Trackmania, with which also weapons and power Ups are used.
  • Close-to-reality Arcade Rennspiele such as Ridge Racer and Gran Turismo.
  • Rennsimulationen like the parts of the Grand Prix series, Grand Prix Legends, GTR or live one for speed, which offer as realistic a representation as possible on the respective state of the art and/or exhibit a play barness, which simulates a high training period required and material handling up to a certain degree.
