The Scheinzypressen (Chamaecyparis) forms a kind of the (Cupressaceae). They resemble the genuine Zypressen so much that the Botaniker 19. Century the Scheinzypressenarten still the kind of the genuine Zypressen (Cupressus) assigned. The difference to the genuine Zypressen consists of the fact that Scheinzypressen have more strongly flattened branches and two different shed sheets as well as smaller taps and the seed-ripe takes place in former times.

The Scheinzypressen is resident in the northern latitudes of North America and Eastern Asia.
