The Schwarz-Fichte (Picea mariana) is an evergreen coniferous tree of the spruces (Picea) in that the (Pinaceae). Synonymous ones are: Abies mariana, Picea brevifolia, Picea mariana var. brevifolia, Picea nigra, Pinus nigra.

Spreading

The Schwarz-Fichte is domestic in completely Canada and the northern USA. Their area is enough from Newfoundland to Alaska and from New York, Minnesota to British Colombia. She is to be found only rare in Central Europe in collections.

Description

The Schwarz-Fichte becomes large to approximately 15 m. It has a conical closely bezweigte crown and works bluish gray from the distance. The needles are 10 to 15 mm long and softly; they are dark green above and down with two bluish-white volumes. The needles stand closely pushed around the impulse. The ground needles smell after Menthol or balsam. The taps are unreif magenta colors, ripely shining red-brown. They hang in and are 3 to 4 cm small, arise however already with small trees under 3 m height. The Schwarz-Fichte grows very slowly (usually only 15 to 25 cm per year).

Use

Under the name "„Abies nigra "“is used into the a preparation from the dried, by cutting the crust won resin against digesting weakness of the stomach. After William Boericke is indicated a dosage in powers from c1 to C30, in Germany are powers in D4 and D6 more common.
