Sergeant major OF the marine Corps (SMMC) is the highest NCO rank with US marine. There is only in each case a NCO (Non Comissioned Officer), which has this rank.

Tasks

This Sergeant is as it were a general of the small people. He is the superior of the NCO corps that marine and belongs to the staff of the Commandant (CMC - Commandant OF the marine Corps). The SMMC is the speaker of the NCOs and representative of their interests in the Corps. It is remunerated after the salary bracket E-9.
