Siemens management Consulting (SMC) is a management consultation with seat, belonging to the Siemens AG, in Munich.
SMC employs altogether approx. 150 advisors (conditions 2005), whereby the majority is assigned to the Heimatoffice in Munich. Additionally SMC is represented also in New York, the USA and Peking, China with an office. Since 2005 is Dr. Andreas Heine of the leaders of SMC.
SMC has itself on the strategy consultation of the individual lines of business and - contrary to classical consulting firms like McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group or Roland Berger Strategy Consultants specializes and e.g. acts ranges as well as national companies the Siemens AG as Inhouse consultation. Consulting fields are strategy, Benchmarking, restructuring, increase in sales, innovation, Mergers & Acquisitions and quality.
The pro and cons of an internal management consultation are obvious: SMC knows the internal operational sequence and structures of Siemens better than an advisor from the outside, on the other side is more weakly pronounced the external perspective. Therefore SMC recruitiert since years experienced coworkers of classical consulting firms.
Apart from the strategy consultation the second goal of SMC is of preparing the own advisors for a leading position in the line within the Siemens company and of developing so a management pool. Best example for this is the chairman of the board the Siemens AG Klaus small field, who created SMC and led several years.
