Siemens Schuckert I was a semirigid airship, which ascended on 23 January 1911 for the first time. The first travel took 40 minutes. The work on the ship began already 1909. It was finished 1911, in that world-wide first swivelling airship hangar in Berlin Biesdorf.
After 28 trial trips the airship on 15.000 m was increased and sold after further 36 travels to the army administration. The Prussian generals stationed it in Biesdorf. Other sources speak of altogether 73 travels. In 2 February 1912 also Ferdinand count von Zeppelin participated in a travel. The ship was lost during a routine landing, when it impacted in a ditch hard.
The data concerning the quality of the ship are contradictory. On the one hand it exceeded all past ships regarding speed and additional load around a multiple. It had the three-way volume of past percussion airships. On the other hand it did not satisfy military among other things because of the too small climbing height and the arising Zeppeline placed the technical projection/lead in the shade. Siemens stopped its airship development in the First World War.
