The company name SNECMA stands as acronym for a French engine manufacturer, the national one d'Etudes et de Constructions de Moteurs d'Aviation.

SNECMA SA is the prominent French manufacturer in the range of drives for airplanes and rockets. The Snecma Portfolio goes from the small piston motor to Ariane booster engines. In several subsidiary companies, e.g. Techspace aero, manufactures the Snecma group also helicopter, rockets, satellite and airplane components such as chassis.

Over various partnerships with other manufacturers, for example General Electric is SNECMA involved in many market controlling engines. At CFM international, which is manufacturer of the wide-spread CFM56 of engine, SNECMA to 50 per cent involved.

The Olympus 593 engine, which was built in co-operation by SNECMA and roll Royce, found its employment in the probably most well-known passenger airline of the world, the Concorde.

In May 2005 SNECMA SA and the likewise French enterprise SAGEM united to SAFRAN SA with head office in Paris.
