Social economy designates the whole of all restaurant economics, with which not private winning vines, but the well-being of a superordinate whole (public interest) is the center of attention. By it also all enterprises in public hand are partly understood.
Already in before-historical times vitally necessary goods, above all the water, were jointly cared for and used. Also the common chase and fishing, as well as the fair distribution of the booty are considered as early developments of the social economy. With the arising of the money economy the coinage became a determining factor, which was in common-economically regulated.
The establishment of cities increased the need of in common-economical mechanisms. Apart from the water and food supply (markets and stockrooms) also public building projects had to be converted. Soon also national monopolies developed, like the salt shelf.
In 19. The negative experiences with private offerers led century to nationalizations and/or Kommunalisierungen of infrastructure facilities such as post office, railway, telephone, electricity and gas works. The Genossenschaftswesen experienced an upswing.
