Soot ink is an ink which can be manufactured simply, which was quite frequently used in the Middle Ages. The ink consists of the components water, soot and rubber arabicum. The rubber arabicum is dissolved thereby in warmed up water and shifted with soot. The correct quantity of the soot is specified simply by write samples. If the ink can be smeared after drying very easily, the portion rubber of the Arabicum must be supplied. The largest disadvantage of the soot ink is their Wasserempfindlichkeit.
