The company SPAD was created in the year 1910 of arm and Deperdussin, one silk manufacturer under its line was SPAD the abbreviation for pour Avions Deperdussin"”. The company headquarters was in Betheney with Reims.

The end of the enterprise

The high point of the SPAD airplanes was the time of the 1. World war. Afterwards the call of the company decreased, not least also, because Louis had created a new enterprise for the production of airliners after the war, the Aronautique, and thus a competitor of its own company in the life had called. In the year 1921 the autonomous SPAD was integrated into the Aronautique; 1936 were put under state control airplane enterprise, like other French airplane manufacturers also.
