The rank staff private first class will a soldier of the German Federal Armed Forces generally after 36-monatiger service with the German Federal Armed Forces transferred ("§ 9,1 soldier career regulation (SLV) if it with the rank soldier one adjusted.

• Female soldiers with this rank lead the additive (w). The designation Stabsgefreite is officially not used in the German Federal Armed Forces.
• The rank staff private first class can be jumped over only by the attitude with a higher rank. Theoretically the SLV ("§ 9,2) permits a jumping over of the rank also in the regular transport sequence, practically has this however no relevance.
• Under certain conditions one can be adjusted as a soldier on time also directly as staff private first classes. This applies above all if the vocational training (final professional training) resembles the military use. By the rank of a Stabsgefreiten one mostly recognizes the soldiers of the German Federal Armed Forces, which decided for the military career of a crew soldier. A change to the group of careers of the NCOs or officers is however possible under certain circumstances. The NCO candidates carry the rank additive UA and the cadets OAU.

Employment

Stabsgefreite are often due to their service auxiliary teachers or experienced crew member of military vehicles. They are consulted (intended, however given nearly never is an existed teacher training course) to training units for the training by basic military service conscripts and take over often superior functions in relation to other crew ranks. Sometimes it occurs that it concerns with this soldiers NCO candidates or cadets, who did not exist the appropriate career training courses and for the remainder of their service into the group of careers of the crews were carried back. They are used like also the Oberstabsgefreiten frequently in staffs.
