The standard performance evaluation corporation (SPEC) is an Non profit organization, which bench mark for the performance evaluation of hardware and - which admits actual less also developed by software. That bench mark is however liable to pay the costs.

With the acquisition the respective companies commit themselves to the license to always publish the complete results. Like that it is ensured that the good in each case results of a computer cannot only be used advertising-effectively, but as broad a cross section as possible develops, which points also possible weaknesses out.

The SPEC is divided into

  • OSG (open of system Group)
  • HPG (High performance Group)
  • GPG (Graphics performance Group)

Bench mark of the OSG exist for the evaluation of

  • Processors: up-to-date CPU2000 - contain CINT2000 (12 Integer programs) and CFP2000 (14 floating decimal point programs) (run out: CPU92, CPU95)
  • Java
    • Application server: up-to-date SPEC jAppServer2004 (run out: jAppServer2001, jAppServer2002)
    • Application of business (Business Application): JBB2000, JBB2005
    • Other one (Others): JVM98
  • Mailserver: SPEC MAIL2001
  • Web server: up-to-date SPEC WEB2005 (run out: WEB96, WEB99, WEB99_SSL)
  • File server: up-to-date SFS97_R1 (3.0) (run out: SFS93, SFS97 (2.0))

Bench mark of the HPG exist for the evaluation of

  • Supercomputers: SPEC HPC2002

Bench mark of the GPG exist for the evaluation of

  • OpenGL graphics maps: SPECviewperf
