Stephanos was a physician and a commentator of medical works from Alexandria, where he worked around 600.
Stephanos was pupil of a Asklepios (possibly the Asklepios of Tralleis, which was pupil of the Ammonios). Three by him written comments are delivered, to Aphorismen and the of the Hippokrates and to Galens Methodos Medendi (Ad Clauconem). All comments witness from the knowledge both training natures of the physicians in Alexandria and the philosophy of the time, which structure and methodology of its work show. Parallel between Stephanos' Aphorismen comment and that of the Theophilos Protospatharios from that 9. /10. Are based to century probably on the use the same collecting main.
In the handwritten excessive quantity of its works Stephanos is called throughout philosopher. Thus its equating with several other Persoenen than plausible applies. For example it is identified with a Stephanos, which around 580 and 585 philosophy in Alexandria informed and to Aristoteles' logical writings had written a comment. Likewise equating with a Athener, which informed around 606 in Konstantinopel philosophy, is probable. Is possible also the identification with only from later Byzantine sources admitted astronomers, astro+lied and Alchimisten a Stephanos.
