The sump Kiefer (Pinus palustris) is called in the English as Longleaf Pine, Southern Yellow Pine or in former times pitch Pine (led to confounding with Pinus rigida).

Occurrence

The sump Kiefer is resident in the south of North America. Their area extends thereby at the coastal line from Texas to Virginia.

Description

The sump Kiefer possesses relatively long needles. These can become long 25 to 40 cm. At the short shoot three needles are together calm. It can reach a stature height of approximately 30 meters and a diameter of 0.7 meters under normal conditions. Like the English name it already mentioned possesses the wood a yellow colouring. It is usually used as building timber.
