The Sumpfzypressen (Taxodium) is one from that the (Cupressaceae), within the resinous wood plants (Pinophyta). This kind covers only two kinds, of which one is nearly evergreen summer-green and the other one. Their circulation area is limited to the southern USA, Mexico and Guatemala. In Europe the genuine Sumpfzypresse (Taxodium distichum) in park plants is to be found by the two kinds.
In earlier earth-history times the kind was further common. Since their wood is very desired in forestry, its existence decrease/go back.
One differentiates the following two kinds with respect to the kind:
