Theodor Escherich (* 29 November 1857 in Ansbach; "† 15 February 1911 in Vienna) was a GermanAustrian child physician, bacteriologist and a professor at the universities of Munich, Graz and Vienna. He discovered the bacterium Escherichia coli, which was designated 1919 after him, and determined its characteristics.

Life

Theodor Escherich attained a doctorate 1881 to the doctor of the medicine. Very early he dedicated himself to bakteriologischen studies. he presented a new method to 1884 for the investigation of the

1890 were appointed Escherich as a professor of the child medicine to the Karl Franzens university Graz and 1894 the third tidy professor in this specialist area of the medicine. it changed 1902 as a professor of the child medicine to Vienna, where it led the pc. Anna child hospital.

Admits became Escherich 1903, when he brought the association "„baby protection "“into being and started a large-scale campaign for the selfquiet.
