Meanwhile in 20.000 German supermarkets and 800 world shops products with the fair trade seal are offered, so that with TransFair sealed products since 1992 could obtain a conversion of approx. 500 million euro. It is to be marked that only a small part of the fair acted products are sealed.
4,5 million producer in 45 countries of Asia, Latin America and Africa profit at present from the fair trade. This means for example with the coffee in the past ten years direct incomes at a value of 150 million euro. That the groups of producers in the fair trade paid additional price improves thereby the very difficult living conditions of humans involved crucially.
Recently TransFair made an agreement with Lidl: Starting from June 2006 there is to be fair trade products in all 2700 branches. A large selection of 8 different products will exceed the offer of many supermarkets. The comparatively low paragraph of fair trade products in Germany is to be set in motion in such a way. In England for example the portion of coffee from fair trade amounts to over 20% in Germany only ~1% at the Gesammtabsatz. This co-operation of TransFair and Lidl is particularly because of the criticism at Lidl (black book Lidl) very disputed. (Source: Mirror Nr.14/3.4.2006)
Gepa, official designation "society for the promotion of the partnership with the third world ltd.", was 1992 the first licensee of TransFair. In the meantime (September 2005) TransFair lent more than 70 enterprises the license for the use of the quality seal for the fair trade.
Internationally the TransFair registered association with 18 further national seal organizations is together closed in the controlling body FLO international. The contraction FLO stands thereby for fair trade Labelling organizations.
