The Troika (Russian German: Three-bottom plate) is in the actual sense a covering way for carts or carriages, in which as with the three horses or other course animals go next to each other. Troika as a top management (political Troika)

In the transferred sense also tripartite groups are called of persons Troika. Like that for instance the guidance of the SPD was into the 1970er years with Willy Brandt well-known as a party chief, Herbert Wehner as parliamentary group-presiding and Helmut Schmidt as Federal Chancellors as Troika. Into the 1990ern Gerhard Oskar Lafontaine and Rudolf Scharping tried a new edition of the political Troika, this failed however relatively soon because of the contrasts between the involved ones.

In the European union a tripartite group is called of countries Troika: the country, the which straight half-yearly changing advice presidency holds, as well as the country, which held it last, and which, which it will next begin. This tripartite group plays an important role in the European Union. Within the range of the common outside and security politics however the Troika marks the advice president, the high representative of the GASP and the commission president.

Often the term Troika fell also in connection with the three-bottom plate Chirac Putin.
