The types of typewriters are similar, to the type characters with the printing, body, which carries the raised, mirror-wrong picture of characters. Contrary to the type characters the types are intended however not for loose use, but either firmly connected with construction units of a typewriter or form in larger quantity a construction unit.
At the point of type bars usually two characters (e.g. h and H) are one above the other appropriate. This type is usually chromium-plated and on the steel lever soldered on. A print wheel consists of resistant however flexible plastic and carries at its extent each type individually mobile. A type drum or a typewriter ball is either metal or metalized plastic body, which seems to be aesthetically responding formed out of individual types.
A further difference to the type characters is the absence of a flat pressure area. The pressure area of a typewriter type is adapted in principle to the radius of the Papierwalze.
The article title is in as much misleading as types of the kind described here are used also into printing calculating machines. First individually mobile types (e.g. the number 7 or +) were realized later however predominantly, type bars (e.g. with the numbers 0 to 9). With the type bars with operational signs often individual places for types remained unused.
