Upper field physician (OFA) is a military rank of the German German Federal Armed Forces. It designates a medical officer physician/lady doctor (SanOffzArzt) or medical officer (SanOffzZahnarzt) in the rank of a lieutenant colonel. The rank-higher is called Colonel physician, the rank-low upper medical officer.

The equivalent rank of the upper field physician in the German navy is a flotilla physician.

Soldiers in this rank can give crews, NCOs without Portepee, NCOs with Portepee, within the borders set by the superior regulation (VorgV) second lieutenants and main people of instructions.
