The Petty Officers (PO) of US Navy has on the one hand its rank (guess/pay stage) and a use designation (rating). This use designation indicates the specialization and/or evenly the use of the respective NCO. The equivalent system of the other US armed services calls itself Military Occupational Specialty (MOS). To the Navy Blue uniform and the daily service uniform white and to the white uniform black badges are carried (see example illustration).

  • Damage Controllman (DC/damage tester): Damage testers are responsible for damage control, ship stability, fire fighting and the CBR defense service. They inform personnel in damage control, CBR defense service measures and the handling of damage control equipment and - systems.
