Vice-marshal designates and designated

• in China, North Korea and other States of a general and/or a marshal rank underneath the marshal and/or main marshal
• in the Austrian army of the K. - and k. - Monarchy the military rank field marshal second lieutenant, who was according to the original meaning of "“second lieutenant"” as "“deputies"” theoretically the vice (deputy) of a marshal, actually however only the lieutenant general corresponded
• in the British Royal air Force likewise a general instead of marshal rank, air Vice Marshal, just as e.g. in Canada, Australia, Indonesia and other states
• in Poland (and Romania) instead of one a military civilian rank, which e.g. corresponds for instance to the Seneschall and yard marshal, above all however the deputy head of the government a region. The vice-marshal is a deputy of a Woiwodschaftsmarschalls. The vice-president of the Sejm (Polish parliament) corresponds however to a deputy parliament president.
