Model history

• 2003 conception gulf of the V; FSI engines, new four-steering wheel rear axle. 4 disc brakes, electromechanical power steering, ESP, ASR, brake assistant, EDS, ABS, six Airbags, electrical outside mirror and window lifter and radio central bolting device are standard.
• The gulf V gets the CONTROLLER AREA network bus system developed of Bosch as the first gulf (short CAN bus). (Blocked starting from already 2001 in the gulf 4)
• 2004 "“30 years gulf"”: free air conditioning system (sales promotion measure limits to 09/2004), 6-Gang direct transmission (DSG) for TDI, 6-Gang automatic transmission with Tiptronic circuit (surcharge), gulf 4motion with all-wheel drive, gulf GTI
• 2005 production gulf V GTI also again developed, turbo-loaded FSI engine with 200 HP.
• MJ2006 with the gulf starting from MJ 2006 are met some economy measures like e.g. blade antenna (as with the IV), other materials at the instrument panel or only 8 instead of of 10 loudspeakers. The changes can be different however depending upon equipment variant.
• September 2005: The special model gulf speed is introduced. This special edition was a project of training of VOLKSWAGEN. This vehicle is limited on 200 copies. In each case 100 in the colors yellow and orange (original colors of Lamborghini).
• December 2005: Gulf GT with new FSI twin turbo (TSI)
• January 2006: Introduction of the gulf GTI in the USA
• February 2006: Gulf Goal as special model to the football WM 2006 in Germany. The Goal has an extensive standard among other things with air conditioning system, CD radio, seat heating, a park assistance, Tempomat, multi-function announcement, fog headlight and headlamp wash/wipe system. In relation to the standard model "“trend LINE"” arises as a result of it a price advantage of 1.236 euro. As special color VOLKSWAGEN offers copilot by orange.

Gulf R32

The gulf R32 on basis gulf of the V is available since September 2005. Contrary to its counterpart of the series IV this gulf R32 in unlimited number of items is built. 184 KW (250 HP) of the new R32-Motors are transferred - like already with the gulf IV R32 - by the permanent all-wheel drive 4MOTION to the road. A manual six-course transmission is is the direct transmission in series, optionally DSG. The maximally attainable speed amounts to 250 km/h, from the conditions needs the gulf V R32 6.5 seconds of zero on 100km/h (with DSG: 6.2 seconds). Already in the basic version this gulf is equipped with numerous functions: The climatic mechanism (Climatronic), the multi-function announcement (MFA), the ABS, ESP and the brake assistant serve here only as small example selection.
