The VOLKSWAGEN Scirocco is a two-door of Volkswagen, which were built in two generations from 1974 to 1993. Development steps/model care

The Scirocco I was originally available with 3 engines, 3 equipment variants and 10 external colors: Engines with 1100 cm (50 HP) and 1500 cm (70 or 85 HP) capacity, and the equipment variants basic model, L, S and TS, which were called starting from 1977 GT, but the same equipment contained.

All Scirocco engines were laid out as row four-cylinders with obenliegender cam shaft and bucket tappets (to 1300 cm rocker fingers). The valve impulse was propelled by means of toothed belts. For model year 1978 a revision of the chassis and the appearance took place for the Scirocco I. Outwardly among other things the turn signals and bumpers were dyed the B-columns around the fenders pulled, black, the radiator grille kept a Zierrahmen. Under the sheet metal strengthened hanging up of the shock struts and an optimized steering element were used and engine storage. The engine pallet covered now 60 HP, 70 HP, 85 HP and 110 HP engine.

In the following a regular model care was operated, both for the interior equipment (materials, seat belts, radio etc.) and on technical level (engines 1.6L and 1.3L, transmission 5 course and 4+E, electronic ignitions). In the autumn 1980 then still the special model CL followed.

The VOLKSWAGEN Scirocco appeared already 3 months before the gulf I (June 1974).
