Walter Reed (* 13 September 1851 in Belroi, Virginia; " 22 November 1902 in Washington) was an US-American bacteriologist.
Since 1893 he was a professor in Washington.
Reed discovered that the yellow fever will transfer not by direct contact, but by the pass of a mosquito (Aedes aegypti).
By introduction of mosquito nets it contributed to the containment of the illness.
