West is a cigarette mark of the company Reemtsma. It is common in Germany and the Netherlands.

History

The cigarettes of the mark west were inserted 1981 on the German market and were first only in tobacco goods shops available, since approximately 1987 are available them also in Supermarkten and cigarette automats. West is at present (conditions 2006) the second-strongest cigarette mark in Germany. Beside the classical cigarette into Germany a multiplicity of product innovations were introduced. West is sold in over 90 countries.

Products

The following products are represented in the west assortment:

  • West talk, a cigarette, whose smoke contains 10 mg tar, 0.9 mg nicotine as well as 10 mg Carbon monoxide.
  • West Silver, formerly under west Light led, a cigarette, their smoke 7 mg tar, 0.6 mg nicotine as well as 7 mg Carbon monoxide) contains.
  • West Blue, a cigarette, whose smoke contains 4 mg tar, 0.4 mg Nikotion as well as 4 mg Carbon monoxide.
  • West Rich Blue, a cigarette, whose smoke contains 8 mg tar, 0.7 mg nicotine as well as 8 mg Carbon monoxide.
  • West ICE, one with Spearmint flavour provided Menthol cigarette, their smoke 7 mg tar, 0.6 mg nicotine as well as 7 mg Carbon monoxide) contains.

Under the designations west talk fine cut & west Silver fine cut tobacco for self turners one offers. It is prepared also to the plug in finished cases.

West volume tobacco talk & Silver is the newest product of the company Reemtsma. It is to replace the tobacco sticks taken by the market.

The price

In Germany a box with 17 cigarettes 3.60 "€, in the Netherlands costs a box with 21 cigarettes 4.30 "€. The differences in prices are justified by the tax on tobacco higher in Germany.

Marketing

The mark was introduced west as "“quality mark at the fair price"” on the German market.

Werbekampagnen

Long time west cigarettes with always different campaigns were applied. In the year 2003 the Werbekampagne became ("“for"…."”) on of Germany posters and advertising pillars accomplished. The motives (conditions 2006) show the new seasonal packing edition of the west. Thus there are altogether 5 different motives for packing also in national colors painted faces from Germany, France, England, Italy and Brazil. The faces on the packings are located representatively of the enthusiasm and internationality in the country, which can be released for example by a soccer world championship. West published special editions of the cigarette packing also before: thus briefly more under different west buzzers edition, west Cola, west were inserted into space edition and west Lemon.

Meetings

West is repeats delivery men or sponsor of different meetings. Most current meeting is the "“west BH-open"”, in which it concerns, who a Mrs. the BH most style-fully take off can.
