Wilbur Lincoln Scoville (* 22 January 1865 in Bridgeport, Connecticut; " 1942) were an American Pharmakologe.
He worked at the Pharmafirma of parks Davis, when he developed 1912 a test for the measurement of the sharpness of Chilischoten, the so-called Scoville Organoleptic test. The content is indirectly measured by Capsaicin by dilution up to the Wahrnehmungsschwelle.
It received 2 honors of the American Pharmaceutical Association: 1992 Ebert Prize and 1929 the Remington Honor Medal. Likewise in the year 1929 a doctor title was lent to it honoris causa the Columbia university.
