William Stokes (* 1 October 1804 in Dublin; "† 10 January 1878 in Dublin) was an Irish internalist.

After it and Robert Adam the Adam Stokes syndrome is designated. In addition it described together with John Cheyne the Cheyne Stokes respiration.
